Instead of guessing or brute forcing the value, I used the monitoring tools against the agent to get it to print the exact internal setting needed to unlock the flag. I got the system instructions above and the highlighted sections stood out to me tsince they suggested this exercise is about multi-agent poisoning to gain elevated privileges to read the flag. Level 8 # An out of band exfiltration attack allows an attacker an indirect way to leak data from exploit a vulnerability that is blind (model output that is heavily filtered). In this level, the vulnerability is not classic command injection, but unsafe tool chaining and side-effect leakage: I chained retrieve_flag with http_get, passed the sensitive value into a query parameter, and observed it in logs. This confirms a response-filter bypass where data is blocked from final assistant text but still exfiltrated through logs. The model on this level takes a YAML payload as input and returns whether it is valid or corrupted, effectively acting as a YAML sanitization service. The goal was to abuse the deserialization step to read the contents of flag.txt from the server. I started by probing the system to see if I could force it to leak its system prompt. This attempt was unsuccessful, as the application simply echoed my input back to the output. Next, I wanted to see what acceptable values the system could process and determine how it handled mathematical evaluations. I tried inputs like 4 * 4 and 4 / 0 to see if it would return results. It did, which indicates that the application passes my input directly unsanitized to the underlying calculation function.
